There are dozens of plastic materials available for 3D printing, each with its unique characteristics, suitable for specific usage situations. To simplify the process of finding the most suitable material for a given component or product, we first need to understand the main plastic types and different 3D printing processes. In practical applications, different types of 3D printing can be selected for processing and manufacturing according to different needs and purposes. For example, in the automotive manufacturing industry, high-performance thermoplastic plastics such as polyamide (PA) and polycarbonate (PC) are often used to manufacture automotive components; In the field of medical device manufacturing, it is necessary to use thermosetting plastics such as epoxy resin (EP) to make products such as human implants.

Nitrile styrene acrylate (ASA) is an engineering thermoplastic that can be 3D printed. It is known for its high impact force and excellent chemical resistance. The molecular structure of ASA is similar to that of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), but in its formula, butadiene is replaced by acrylic esters.

The hardness and strength of PC materials are higher than ABS (about 60%), and their toughness is relatively lower. They are truly thermoplastic materials that meet all the properties of engineering plastics: high strength, high temperature resistance, impact resistance, and bending resistance. They can be used as final parts for direct assembly. The color printed from PC materials in 3D is generally semi transparent, and the material itself has a single color, white. The surface accuracy is average.

We have developed a 3D printing material for our clients to replace the Shaber Foundation XP4034 for outdoor lighting applications. This is an excellent PC/ASA alloy with high impact resistance, high heat resistance, and aging resistance, which has good UV resistance and excellent processing performance. Especially suitable for outdoor equipment, lighting equipment, automotive interior and exterior applications, automotive lighting, home appliances, medical devices, and 3D printing materials.
